Accra, June 16, GNA \u2013 Court dismisses Thomas Partey\u2019s appeal on Canadian visa refusal.<\/p>\n

The Black Stars midfielder would miss out on Ghana\u2019s opener against Panama in Toronto.<\/p>\n

Partey\u2019s legal team was pushing to overturn an immigration decision and seeking clearance to enable him to travel to Canada for the Black Stars\u2019 opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n

The Black Stars of Ghana landed in Toronto on Monday afternoon without their deputy captain, Partey, who was denied entry into Canada.<\/p>\n

During proceedings on Tuesday afternoon, Partey\u2019s lawyer argued that the court could impose conditions to allow him entry into Canada, stressing that the player had no intention of residing in the country.<\/p>\n

Partey\u2019s lawyer prayed the court to grant conditional clearance for his travel to Canada, having described the initial visa denial as \u201cunfair and incomplete.\u201d<\/p>\n

The lawyer also pleaded with the judge for a swift decision, noting that time was of the essence given Ghana\u2019s scheduled opening Group L fixture.<\/p>\n

However, the Black Stars are set to train at the BMO Field this evening as they continue preparations for tomorrow\u2019s crucial encounter against Panama.<\/p>\n

The former Arsenal player is awaiting trial in England over rape and sexual assault charges.<\/p>\n
