Actor and politician John Setor Dumelo has commented on the controversial \u201cPromotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill,\u201d commonly known as the \u201canti-gay bill\u201d. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The anti-gay bill<\/a> is currently under consideration by Ghana\u2019s Parliament and has been sent to the president for ascension.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Starr FM\u2019s Bola Ray, John Dumelo<\/a> stated that he aligns with the position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the matter.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that the NDC supports the bill to protect \u201cfamily values\u201d in Ghana. While declining to state a personal stance, Dumelo added that he respects the privacy of individuals.<\/p>\n

Another user stated how both John Dumelo and Muna Obiekwe became \u201cgay icons\u201d after their vivid portrayals in the movie.<\/p>\n

Following the release of \u201cMen In Love,\u201d Dumelo publicly denied that he is gay. In a 2010 interview, he clarified that the film was intended to portray homosexuality as the consequence of a demonic influence.<\/p>\n

He told GhanaCelebrities that; \u201cYes I did a movie in Lagos. It was a gay movie. In that movie, I was under a spell. My best friend put me under a demonic spell. He then abused me to satisfy his gay pleasures. When you watch that movie, it actually doesn\u2019t promote homosexuality\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt regards homosexuality as an evil thing. At the end of the movie, I prayed and the demon just came out of me, then I apologised to my wife and family, so it doesn\u2019t mean am gay. It was just to create awareness that people who are actually gay most likely are under demonic spells\u201d, he is quoted to have continued.<\/p>\n
