Accra, June 15, GNA \u2013 A 52-member Ghanaian delegation from the Galaxy International School has departed the Kotoka International Airport for London, United Kingdom, to participate in the 2026 Owlypia International Competition (Global Round).<\/p>\n

The team, comprising students, parents and faculty members, left Accra in high spirits to represent the nation at the prestigious global academic event scheduled to take place from June 14 to June 20, 2026, at the University of Westminster.<\/p>\n

Leading the delegation is Mr Jasur Domullojonov, Principal of Galaxy International School.<\/p>\n

The Ghanaian contingent earned its place in the global round after successfully navigating a series of highly competitive qualifying stages, including online assessments and a rigorous local round hosted earlier this year at the school\u2019s campus in Accra.<\/p>\n

At the global stage, the students will compete alongside top-performing peers from across the world in a week-long programme featuring intensive academic contests, collaborative team exercises, and cultural exchange activities.<\/p>\n

Owlypia is an internationally recognised educational competition designed for young people between the ages of nine and 18. The programme distinguishes itself by combining academic excellence with practical problem-solving, moving beyond traditional rote-learning approaches.<\/p>\n

Participants are assessed across five interdisciplinary areas: Science and Technology, Literature and Culture, Social Sciences, Art and Design, and Economics and Business.<\/p>\n

In addition to subject knowledge, the competition places strong emphasis on the development of essential soft skills such as communication, teamwork, confidence, and leadership.<\/p>\n

Activities including debates, public speaking sessions, research projects, and team challenges are designed to build these competencies.<\/p>\n

The participation of Galaxy International School in global platforms such as Owlypia underscores its commitment to providing holistic education that extends beyond the classroom.<\/p>\n

The school aims to foster globally minded students equipped with the skills and confidence to excel in diverse international environments.<\/p>\n

The departure of the Ghanaian team has drawn attention from the academic community, with expectations high that the students will perform creditably and showcase the quality of education in the country.<\/p>\n

As the delegation begins its international engagement, many Ghanaians have expressed support and encouragement, urging the students to represent the nation with distinction.<\/p>\n

Mr Domullojonov on behalf of the school wished the students a resounding victory, adding: \u201cWe wish them a great success in the challenge ahead.\u201d
