The Arab list parties, meanwhile, held a combined 19 seats, it added.<\/p>\n<p>Both Netanyahu\u2019s bloc and the opposition parties fell short of securing the 61 seats required for a parliamentary majority.<\/p>\n<p>The final results of the Knesset elections will be certified and announced by Wednesday. Until that date, the results are subject to change.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/10\/27\/israel-election-turnout-highest-in-50-years-as-voting-continues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">elections<\/a> \u2013 the first since the October 7, 2023, attacks on southern Israel and the start of Israel\u2019s genocidal war on Gaza \u2013 were widely seen as a referendum on Netanyahu\u2019s premiership.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Israel election 2026 results\" aria-label=\"Table\" id=\"datawrapper-chart-ICBWp\" src=\"https:\/\/datawrapper.dwcdn.net\/ICBWp\/10\/\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"width:0;min-width:100% !important;border:none\" height=\"1062\" data-external=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"coalition-options\">Coalition options<\/h2>\n<p>On Thursday, Eisenkot, who heads the Yashar party, met former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who leads the Together party, to discuss ways to form a new government \u201cas quickly as possible\u201d, according to a statement reported by Israel\u2019s Ynet News outlet.<\/p>\n<p>Eisenkot also met Democrats party chairman Yair Golan, the only member of the opposition alliance to support forming a coalition with parties led by Palestinian citizens of Israel, while all other political groups have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/10\/28\/can-israeli-leader-eisenkot-ally-with-arab-parties-to-unseat-netanyahu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rejected<\/a> any such union.<\/p>\n<p>Golan met separately with Mansour Abbas, who leads the United Arab list, or Ra\u2019am, which is projected to win seven of the 19 Arab party seats.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a time for action. Our responsibility is not to miss the opportunity for change and the salvation of Israel,\u201d Golan said in a post on X after his meeting with Abbas.<\/p>\n<p>Al Jazeera correspondent Nour Odeh noted that \u201cEisenkot has an uphill battle ahead of him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former military leader-turned-politician has pledged \u201cnot to ally himself or get into a partnership with the Palestinian Israeli parties\u201d, Odeh said, reporting from the occupied West Bank because Al Jazeera is banned from Israel.<\/p>\n<p>But given the fact that no political bloc has a majority, the Eisenkot-led opposition bloc cannot form a governing coalition without the support of Arab-led parties, she added.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"netanyahu-using-state-institutions-for-his-personal-needs\">Netanyahu \u2018using state institutions for his personal needs\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Meanwhile, Netanyahu\u2019s Likud party has continued to amplify unsubstantiated allegations that Arab-led parties had \u201cstolen\u201d the election, potentially with foreign assistance \u2013 claims that have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/news\/2026\/10\/29\/israels-anti-qatar-campaign-bleeds-into-elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rejected<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The head of the Central Elections Committee, Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg, said \u201cserious suspicions\u201d of foreign interference had been brought to him in a letter to the Shin Bet security agency. Sohlberg said he could not verify the claims, but given their serious nature, he asked the agency to investigate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Eisenkot accused Netanyahu of working to delegitimise the election results with his allegations.<\/p>\n<p>In a video posted on his X account, Eisenkot said: \u201cThe days of Netanyahu using state institutions against Israeli interests for his personal needs are over,\u201d adding that no \u201cspin\u201d can change voters rejecting his government at the polls.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBenjamin Netanyahu is not satisfied with the results, no matter how much he has been saying that he won,\u201d political analyst Xavier Abu Eid told Al Jazeera.<\/p>\n<p>He added that while it seems unlikely the opposition could take advantage by overcoming differences with the Arab-led groups, there could be an understanding to replace the current speaker of the Knesset, who is close to Netanyahu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there is a new speaker in the Knesset, \u2026 Netanyahu loses an important ally,\u201d Abu Eid said, adding that this might give an opening for the opposition to \u201cactually start passing legislation\u201d against him.<\/p>\n<p>Odeh said the next steps would involve negotiations between political groups after the Central Elections Committee announces and certifies the election results by Wednesday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n        <div class=\"booster-block
