Since the beginning of the gas injection season, Norway has even increased gas exports, but still cannot match Gazprom and provide the country with\u00a0EU with the required amount of fuel. LNG supplies are declining and inventory recovery is lagging further and further behind last year.<\/p>\n

According to the Norwegian operator Gassco, since April, when the season of gas injection into storage facilities began in Europe, even more gas has been supplied from the country than last year \u2014 21.55 billion cubic meters. However, this turned out to be clearly not enough for the countries\u00a0The EU restored its reserves at least at the level of last year.<\/p>\n

Norway has become one of the main beneficiaries of Gazprom’s withdrawal from Europe, but has not been able to replace the Russian company as a source that can fully compensate for losses in other areas.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, according to GIE, the gap between the rate of injection into European storage facilities this year and last year is increasing. If in April it was minus 19 million cubic meters per day, then in May it was 43 million cubic meters per day, and in June it was all 74 million cubic meters. The average daily injection in the European Union in June does not exceed 335 million cubic meters.<\/p>\n

As a result, there are 46.7 billion cubic meters in the storage facilities of the European Union \u2014 9.6 billion cubic meters less than a year earlier.<\/p>\n

The gap is growing, but the EU can’t do anything about it yet. The rejection of Russian gas has led to dependence on LNG, whose cargoes due to the suspension of exports from Qatar and\u00a0The UAE is increasingly being redirected to Asia, where prices are higher than European ones.<\/p>\n

Compared to May, LNG imports fell by 51 million cubic meters per day in June to 330 million cubic meters per day, and by 84 million cubic meters compared to April.<\/p>\n

Individual Governments\u00a0The EU is already allocating billions of euros in subsidies for the purchase of gas to restore reserves, but so far the main consumer, Germany, has not taken action.<\/p>\n

And \u2014 in vain, experts say.<\/p>\n

As reported by EADaily<\/strong><\/a>, the global climate phenomenon El Nino can dramatically increase the demand for gas around the world. Because of this, not only will the competition between\u00a0Between the EU and Asia, Europe may just need more fuel than last winter.<\/p>\n

“In general, according to our estimates, winter gas demand in Western and Central Europe may increase by 6.7 billion cubic meters during the El Nino years,” the ICIS analytical agency said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

At the same time, the current level of injection will allow to replenish the storage facilities only to 80 billion cubic meters, whereas a year ago the reserves amounted to 90 billion cubic meters before the heating season.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
