Another characteristic was that the treatment time is relatively short, so many patients use baryon ray therapy through outpatient treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In particular, Dr. Hirohiko explained that research results on multiple ion irradiation methods are being accumulated as a way to maximize the effect of baryon beam therapy, the best existing cancer treatment technology, and shorten the treatment period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasized, \u201cDepending on the condition of the cancer, the treatment effect can be increased by upgrading baryon treatment with a multi-ion irradiation method that combines not only carbon ions but also heavier oxygen ions and light helium ions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, Dr. Makoto Shinoto, Japan QST Radiation Oncology Group Leader, and Dr. Masashi Koto, Deputy Director of QST Radiation Science Research Institute, took the podium one by one to explain baryon radiation treatment for pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, and head and neck cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Makoto Shinoto said, \u201cThe local control rate and overall survival rate of baryon beam treatment are very high,\u201d and \u201cWe aim to provide treatment that is helpful to patients who are not eligible for surgical or medical treatments such as surgery or radiofrequency heat therapy.\u201d explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Masashi Koto said, \u201cIn the head and neck area, where the brain, vision, smell, hearing, and taste organs are concentrated, it is very important not only to cure the disease but also to maintain the original function of the organ as intact as possible,\u201d and in this respect, baryon radiation therapy is effective.
