The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has held a high-level meeting with key stakeholders in Ghana\u2019s petroleum sector to assess the potential impact of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East on the country\u2019s fuel security.<\/p>\n

The engagement formed part of government efforts to anticipate possible disruptions and ensure a stable energy supply.<\/p>\n

The meeting brought together representatives from major institutions in the petroleum value chain, including the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), BOSTEnergies, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and Bulk Import, Distribution and Export Companies (BIDECs), among other industry players.<\/p>\n

Discussions centred on growing volatility in the global oil market, possible supply chain interruptions, fluctuations in freight costs and the likely implications for domestic fuel prices and consumer welfare.<\/p>\n

Stakeholders also examined measures to protect the country\u2019s fuel supply amid the geopolitical tensions.<\/p>\n

Dr Jinapor stressed the importance of taking proactive steps to safeguard Ghana\u2019s energy security. He indicated that contingency plans are being reviewed and strengthened to minimise any adverse effects that may arise from developments in the Middle East.<\/p>\n

The Minister also directed the NPA, as the downstream regulator, to intensify market surveillance and maintain close coordination with industry players.<\/p>\n

He further urged sector agencies to maintain adequate strategic fuel reserves, closely monitor international developments and ensure steady distribution of petroleum products nationwide.<\/p>\n

Government has assured the public that it remains committed to protecting Ghana\u2019s energy supply and is exploring all necessary measures to sustain fuel availability while minimising possible hardship for consumers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
