Commuters and motorists who use the La to Nungua road are frustrated with the traffic disruption caused by the many potholes on the stretch.<\/p>\n

The road, part of the Accra-Tema Beach Road, has been under construction since August 2020, but work stalled due to the country\u2019s International Monetary Fund (IMF) deal and the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP).<\/p>\n

The 26.6-kilometre road expansion project, which includes a two-way, four-lane urban road, traffic signal system, and related auxiliary works, as well as a three-tier interchange at the Nungua Barrier, has been halted, leaving motorists to navigate through heavy vehicular congestion and potholes.<\/p>\n

Commercial drivers, speaking to Citi News expressed concern about the impact of the bad road conditions, which are taking a toll on their vehicles.<\/p>\n

A driver stated, \u201cWe are pleading with the authorities to expedite work on the road so that passengers can get to their destinations on time. Potholes have developed on the road because of the uncompleted stretch. the bad condition of the road has negatively affected our cars. The nature of the road causes heavy vehicular traffic.\u201d<\/p>\n

The traffic disruption is particularly severe during peak hours, with motorists heading towards Teshie from Accra facing gridlock at Kpeshie.<\/p>\n

Commuters and motorists are appealing to the authorities to complete the road works to alleviate their suffering.<\/p>\n
