United States President Donald Trump says Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is dead after Israeli-US attacks on Iran.<\/p>\n

Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform that 86-year-old Khamenei was killed in the joint US-Israeli strikes, which began early on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems and, working closely with Israel, there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do,\u201d the US president wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their Country,\u201d he said. \u201cHopefully, the IRGC [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps] and Police will peacefully merge with the Iranian Patriots.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed there were \u201cgrowing signs\u201d that Khamenei had been killed.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the Reuters news agency, citing an unnamed senior Israeli official, reported that Khamenei\u2019s body has \u2060been located.<\/p>\n

But Iran\u2019s Tasnim and Mehr news agencies reported that Khamenei remained \u201csteadfast and firm in commanding the field\u201d.<\/p>\n

In what appeared to be a response to the claims, the head of public relations at Khamenei\u2019s office accused the country\u2019s enemies of \u201cmental warfare\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe enemy is resorting to mental warfare; all should be aware,\u201d the official was quoted as saying by Iranian state media.<\/p>\n

Reporting from Tehran, Al Jazeera\u2019s Tohid Asadi said there has so far been no official confirmation of Khamenei\u2019s killing from Tehran.<\/p>\n

He noted that Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi told NBC News earlier that, \u201cas far as I know\u201d, Iran\u2019s supreme leader, as well as other top Iranian officials, remained in good health.<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s strikes on Iran targeted 24 provinces, killing at least 201 people, according to Iranian media reports, citing the Red Crescent.<\/p>\n

Iran responded with a wave of counterattacks, targeting Israel and US military assets across the Middle East.<\/p>\n

Netanyahu said in his address that many \u201csenior figures\u201d had been \u201celiminated\u201d in the wave of attacks targeting senior leaders, as Trump called for the government to be toppled.<\/p>\n

Israel, he said, had killed \u201ccommanders in the Revolutionary Guard and senior officials in the nuclear programme. And we will continue.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
