Tema,\u00a0June 12, GNA\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Representatives of Ghanaian students at Teesside University, London,\u00a0have paid a courtesy call on the Executive Mayor of Middlesbrough,\u00a0Mr\u00a0Chris Cooke, to discuss youth development, education, and community engagement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The delegation, led by\u00a0Mr\u00a0Barnes Adu Antwi,\u00a0Mr\u00a0Ian Okwei, and\u00a0Mr\u00a0Ransford Kennedy Gyimah, used the meeting to reaffirm the commitment of Ghanaian students to supporting initiatives aimed at promoting education, entrepreneurship, and community development within the Teesside area.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA)\u00a0said\u00a0the students expressed support for\u00a0programmes\u00a0being pursued by the\u00a0mayor\u2019s\u00a0office, including youth empowerment initiatives, business development interventions, and educational opportunities designed to enhance the prospects of young people.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr\u00a0Cooke welcomed the delegation and commended Ghanaian students for their contributions to the academic and social life of the community.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He expressed interest in\u00a0maintaining\u00a0regular engagements with members of the Ghanaian student community to better understand their experiences and explore ways of strengthening collaboration between the local authority and international students.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0mayor also briefed the delegation on\u00a0a number of\u00a0upcoming events and development initiatives within Middlesbrough, including\u00a0programmes\u00a0aimed at promoting business growth, innovation, education, and the creative arts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The student representatives pledged their continued participation in community activities and expressed their willingness to support initiatives that promote cultural exchange, social inclusion, and sustainable development.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They noted that such engagements provided opportunities for international students to contribute meaningfully to their host communities while strengthening people-to-people relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The meeting formed\u00a0part of efforts by the Ghanaian student community at Teesside University to foster closer collaboration with local authorities and promote the welfare of Ghanaian students studying in the United Kingdom.\u00a0<\/p>\n
