In an emotional testament to timely intervention and collective compassion, the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) has successfully funded a life-saving brain surgery for Mumuni Jamil, an ICT tutor at Wa Technical Institute in the Upper West Region.<\/p>\n

Diagnosed with a brain Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM), a rare and life-threatening condition requiring highly specialised neurosurgical care, Mumuni\u2019s prognosis initially left his family devastated and overwhelmed by the cost of treatment.<\/p>\n

According to family head Mumuni Baba Seidu, the diagnosis plunged the family into anguish as the required medical intervention was far beyond their financial reach.<\/p>\n

Matters worsened mid-flight when Mumuni, who was being transported from Wa to Accra for further medical evaluation, suffered a critical episode that forced an emergency landing in Tamale.<\/p>\n

Doctors at the Tamale Teaching Hospital worked swiftly to resuscitate and stabilise him, buying valuable time and keeping hope alive.<\/p>\n

Upon arrival in Accra, specialists confirmed that his condition required urgent surgery at Euracare Advanced Diagnostics and Heart Centre.<\/p>\n

However, the cost of the procedure \u2014 GHS 235,940.00 \u2014 presented what appeared to be an insurmountable barrier. For many families, such a financial burden would have marked the end of available options.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, Mumuni\u2019s case coincided with the Ghana Medical Trust Fund\u2019s 50-pilot case intervention programme. The Fund stepped in and covered the full cost of the surgery.<\/p>\n

The complex procedure was successful, and today Mumuni has not only regained his health but has reunited with his family as a survivor rather than a patient in distress.<\/p>\n

Speaking during a visit to the Fund\u2019s offices to express gratitude, the family described the intervention as life-changing. \u201cThe Ghana Medical Trust Fund represents more than a medical support scheme.<\/p>\n

It stands as a symbol of compassionate leadership, social responsibility, and national solidarity,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku reaffirmed the Fund\u2019s commitment to supporting critically ill Ghanaians, noting that sustained backing would enable many more lives to be saved.<\/p>\n

The case, she emphasised, demonstrates how collective compassion can transform near-tragedy into renewed hope.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
