Two Ghanaian para swimmers, Promise Atsu and Bryan Baffour, have jetted off to Australia for the World Series 2026.<\/p>\n

The duo departed Ghana on Tuesday evening for the competition, slated for February 20\u201322 at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.<\/p>\n

Promise and Bryan will undergo international classification and compete in the event, which serves as a qualifying pathway toward the 2026 Commonwealth Games.<\/p>\n

Both athletes will compete in the 50m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke, and 100m Breaststroke.<\/p>\n

It is the first time Ghana will be represented at a major competition in para swimming.<\/p>\n

The trip, which is understood to be funded by the Ghana Olympic Committee, marks a significant milestone for the Para Swimming Association, headed by Farida Iddriss, who became president in May 2025.<\/p>\n

In a statement released, the National Paralympic Committee said: \u201cMadam Farida Idriss, President of the Ghana Para Swimming Association, played a critical role in ensuring that these young para swimmers secured this life-changing opportunity.<\/p>\n

\u201cHer leadership, advocacy, and determination have opened new doors for para swimming development in Ghana.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the athletes prepare to compete in Australia, Ghana proudly stands behind them and hopes they will achieve qualification and continue to inspire a new generation of para swimmers across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
