The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams has officially inaugurated the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2026 International Cricket Council (ICC) Men\u2019s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier B, set to take place in March 2026.<\/p>\n

The brief ceremony marked a significant step in Ghana\u2019s preparations to host a major international cricket tournament, an event expected to promote the sport, boost local tourism, and foster nationwide community engagement.
\nSpeaking at the event, Mr. Adams highlighted the importance of the tournament within the country\u2019s broader sports development agenda. \u201cToday\u2019s inauguration signifies yet another key step in Ghana\u2019s ongoing efforts to develop, promote, and leverage sports as a powerful tool for national progress and international engagement,\u201d he said. He also pointed to Ghana\u2019s track record in hosting prestigious sporting events, citing the successful organisation of the 13th African Games as evidence of the country\u2019s capability.
\nChairman of the LOC, Mr. Nii Okai Evans Anfom, expressed gratitude to the Minister and the Ghana Cricket Association for entrusting the committee with the organisation of the competition. \u201cWe are committed to working vigorously with all stakeholders to deliver a world-class tournament that will be remembered for its professionalism and excellence,\u201d he said.
\nThe tournament will feature six teams competing in a round-robin format, with each team playing the others once. The top two teams will advance to the Regional Qualifier, an essential step toward securing a place in the 2028 ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. Participating countries include Ghana, Tanzania, Eswatini, Malawi, St. Helena, and Seychelles.
