Stephen Owusu, a head porter, has appeared before the\u00a0Adabraka\u00a0District Court for allegedly stealing two mobile phones at\u00a0Darkuman\u00a0in Accra.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Owusu is alleged to have snatched the phones from two persons who were recording a fire outbreak at Cable and Wireless,\u00a0Darkuman, on February 4, 2026.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

He has been charged with two counts of stealing, involving an iPhone 12 valued at GH\u00a22,900 and a Samsung Galaxy valued at GH\u00a21,200.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Owusu pleaded not guilty.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Court admitted him to bail in the sum of GH\u00a22,000 with two sureties.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

He is to reappear on February 17, 2026.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chief Inspector\u00a0Apeweh\u00a0Achana, prosecuting, said the complainants were Bismark Osei, a\u00a0driver\u2019s\u00a0mate, and Emmanuel Badu, an auto electrician apprentice.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The prosecution said at about\u00a01700 hours\u00a0on February 4, 2026, a fire outbreak occurred at Cable and Wireless,\u00a0Darkuman, where members of the public had gathered to\u00a0observe\u00a0and record the incident.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

It said Owusu allegedly went to the scene under the pretext of\u00a0assisting\u00a0victims, snatched the complainants\u2019 phones and handed them to an alleged accomplice who fled.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The complainants raised an alarm and police officers at the scene arrested Owusu and handed him over to the\u00a0Darkuman\u00a0Police Station, where a formal complaint was made.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The prosecution said in his caution statement, Owusu admitted taking Emmanuel Badu\u2019s phone but denied taking that of Bismark Osei.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

It said he\u00a0failed to\u00a0assist\u00a0the Police to retrieve the phones from the alleged accomplice.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
