British International Investment (BII), the UK\u2019s development finance institution and impact investor, has concluded a high\u2011level leadership visit to Ghana from 29\u201330 January 2026. <\/p>\n

The visit deepened collaboration with government and private\u2011sector partners and highlighted BII\u2019s future investment priorities to drive sustainable and inclusive economic growth.<\/p>\n

The BII Board delegation, led by CEO Leslie Maasdorp, met with government authorities,\u00a0investors, and private\u2011sector partners to deepen collaboration and assess progress across BII- and Growth Investment Partners (GIP)- supported businesses in Ghana<\/span>. <\/p>\n

The delegation was particularly inspired by visits to five investee companies; at the Maa Grace Garments International, the Board heard how the company used GIP\u2019s investment to become one of Ghana\u2019s largest garment manufacturers, which is expanding to employ another 400 local women and men to increase their production of 100% exported garments. <\/p>\n

The delegation also engaged with pension funds, private equity firms and development finance institutions to discuss local capital mobilisation.<\/p>\n

A high\u2011level networking reception at the British High Commissioner\u2019s Residence brought together senior officials, investors and development partners, including the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu\u2011Adjare, and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Asiama.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the visit, Dr Christian Rogg, British High Commissioner, said, \u201cInclusive and sustainable growth is at the heart of the UK\u2019s partnership with Ghana. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis visit strengthens our shared commitment to boosting investment, improving the business environment, and supporting Ghana\u2019s economic transformation as we advance a modern, forward\u2011looking UK\u2013Ghana partnership.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leslie Maasdorp, CEO of BII, said, \u201cGhana is a vital partner for British International Investment. We remain committed to supporting long\u2011term economic resilience and helping Ghanaian businesses grow and compete globally.\u201d<\/p>\n

BII\u2019s investments in Ghana support over 15,000 jobs across key sectors, including manufacturing, food security, energy, digital connectivity and SME finance. <\/p>\n

In 2024, BII\u2011backed businesses contributed over US$3 million in taxes to the Ghanaian economy.<\/p>\n

A core pillar of BII\u2019s work is GIP Ghana, its flagship platform aimed at narrowing the country\u2019s SME financing gap. By the end of 2025, GIP had invested in 15 SMEs, supporting over 3,400 jobs.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
