Appolonia City has begun a major phase of infrastructure development following a landmark groundbreaking ceremony held in partnership with Core Construction Limited, marking a significant milestone in the growth of Ghana\u2019s fastest-rising master-planned new city.<\/p>\n

The ceremony, held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Appolonia City site, brought together senior government officials, local authorities, development partners, community representatives and the media.<\/p>\n

Dignitaries present included the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, who delivered the keynote address; Member of Parliament for Kpone\u2013Katamanso, Joseph Tettey; Board Chairman of Appolonia City, Daniel Tetteh; Chairman for West Africa at Rendeavour, Yomi Ademola; and Director of Operations at Core Construction Limited, Kevin Lartey, among other stakeholders.<\/p>\n

The event formally signalled Appolonia City\u2019s transition from planning to accelerated on-site execution, reflecting the strong development momentum currently underway across the city.<\/p>\n

The infrastructure works will deliver about 25 kilometres of high-quality asphalt roads, including pedestrian walkways, cycling paths, kerbs, lane markings, service and utility crossings, landscaping, and comprehensive stormwater drainage systems.<\/p>\n

The scope reflects an integrated, future-ready approach designed to improve accessibility, mobility, safety and long-term resilience across the city.<\/p>\n

Delivering the keynote address, Mr Suhuyini described the project as a model for infrastructure-led urban development in Ghana.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis groundbreaking is a clear demonstration of what disciplined planning, private-sector leadership, and strategic infrastructure investment can achieve. Appolonia City represents the future of urban growth\u2014where roads, utilities, and services are delivered ahead of demand to support economic activity, improve mobility, and enhance quality of life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Developed by Rendeavour, Appolonia City is a 2,325-acre master-planned urban development designed to address the challenges of unplanned growth in the Greater Accra Region.<\/p>\n

The city integrates residential neighbourhoods, commercial and business districts, a 200-acre light industrial park, social infrastructure and recreational amenities within a single, well-governed environment.<\/p>\n

To date, more than US$250 million has been invested in critical infrastructure at Appolonia City. These include a 75MVA primary substation, over 50 kilometres of utility networks covering power, water and telecommunications, as well as internal road networks.<\/p>\n

According to the developers, these investments have driven private-sector activity, supported job creation, and reinforced Appolonia City\u2019s role as a resilient, future-ready urban centre supporting Accra\u2019s long-term expansion.<\/p>\n

Rendeavour Ghana\u2019s Country Head and Managing Director of Appolonia City, Perminas Marisi, said the milestone represents more than the start of road construction.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u2019s groundbreaking represents far more than the start of road construction. It reflects our deliberate, long-term commitment to infrastructure-led urban development. Roads are the arteries of any city, and this investment brings us closer to realising Appolonia City\u2019s full potential as a model for planned growth in Ghana and the wider region,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The project is being executed by Core Construction Limited, one of Ghana\u2019s established civil engineering and construction firms.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1995, Core Construction is a wholly Ghanaian-owned company with a track record in delivering major infrastructure projects nationwide. The company also operates quarry facilities at Shai Hills to support consistent quality and timely delivery.<\/p>\n

Rendeavour\u2019s Project Director for West Africa, Morgan Oriahi, also stressed the importance of coordination and standards in delivering long-term impact.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis project has been carefully planned to ensure that each phase of delivery supports the broader vision for Appolonia City. Our approach prioritises technical integrity, environmental responsibility, and seamless integration with existing infrastructure. These roads will not only serve today\u2019s needs but will support growth for decades to come,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Appolonia City said the partnership with Core Construction reflects shared values of quality, accountability and sustainability, and that the road network will unlock access to land and homes, support commercial and industrial activity, improve mobility and lay the foundation for future phases of development.<\/p>\n

The developers believe the project strengthens Appolonia City\u2019s positioning as a benchmark for planned, infrastructure-first city development in West Africa, demonstrating how long-term investment and credible partnerships can deliver inclusive growth, economic resilience and improved quality of life.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
