President John Dramani Mahama has ordered the immediate recall of Ghana\u2019s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed.<\/p>\n

This follows allegations of voter inducement during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso East Constituency, which he won.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued on February 7, 2026, by the Presidency Communications Unit, the directive comes in response to claims that delegates were induced in the course of the party\u2019s internal elections, in which Mr Baba Jamal was a candidate.<\/p>\n

According to the Presidency, while allegations of vote-buying were made against multiple contestants, Mr Baba Jamal was the only serving public officer among those who participated in the primary, making his situation distinct.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe President noted that, while the allegations of vote-buying were made against multiple candidates who contested the primaries, Baba Jamal was the only serving public officer among them,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

President Mahama also acknowledged a public statement by the NDC\u2019s General Secretary indicating that the party has commenced its own internal investigations into the allegations arising from the primaries.<\/p>\n
