The Minority Caucus in Parliament says the New Patriotic Party\u2019s (NPP) return to power hinges on unity, not political slogans, drawing lessons from the party\u2019s defeat in the 2024 general elections.<\/p>\n

In a statement signed by Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the Minority noted that the loss underscored an \u201cinvaluable lesson\u201d that unity remains the party\u2019s fundamental source of strength.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe painful 2024 electoral defeat taught us an invaluable lesson: unity is not merely a political slogan but our fundamental source of strength. History demonstrates that when the NPP presents a united front, we are formidable. Our victories in 2000, 2004, 2016, and 2020 stand as a testament to this truth,\u201d portions of the statement read.<\/p>\n

The Minority Caucus urged all party structures, particularly constituency executives, polling station organisers, and grassroots volunteers across the country, from Tamale to Takoradi and Aflao to Axim, to rally behind the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party\u2019s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.<\/p>\n

The Caucus described the grassroots as the backbone of the NPP\u2019s political machinery and called on them to channel their energies into strengthening party unity, while at the same time holding the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) accountable for its management of the nation\u2019s affairs.<\/p>\n

The Minority further pledged its full support to Dr. Bawumia, noting that \u201cboth current and former NPP Members of Parliament bring significant experience to the party\u2019s rebuilding efforts.\u201d <\/p>\n

It highlighted the party\u2019s parliamentary achievements, including securing 169 seats in 2016 and 137 seats in 2020, as well as the implementation of major policies such as the Free Senior High School programme, large-scale infrastructure development, and key digital economy initiatives.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, this collective experience places the NPP in a strong position to provide strategic guidance as preparations intensify toward the 2028 elections.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
