An\u00a0Adenta\u00a0Circuit Court has sentenced a 27\u2011year\u2011old Nigerian to seven years\u2019 imprisonment for defiling a 13\u2011year\u2011old girl at\u00a0Nanakrom, near\u00a0Adenta.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ambrose Clinton, a mason, was charged with defilement and pleaded not guilty.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The court\u00a0presided over by\u00a0Angela\u00a0Attachie, at the end of the trial, found him guilty and convicted him accordingly.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Clinton\u2019s sentence will run from the day of his arrest. He had been on remand after\u00a0failing to meet\u00a0bail conditions granted by the court.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The trial judge\u00a0advised parents to\u00a0closely supervise their children.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The court said the medical report\u00a0indicated\u00a0that the victim\u2019s hymen had been broken.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

It said that the victim, in her evidence,\u00a0stated\u00a0that each time Clinton defiled her, he gave her GH\u00a210.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The prosecution, led by Chief Superintendent of Police Patience Mario, said the complainant is a 52\u2011year\u2011old food vendor at\u00a0Nanakrom\u00a0who lives with the victim, a class six pupil.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Investigations\u00a0established\u00a0that on July 10, 2024, around\u00a01500 hours, the complainant detected that the victim had left the house unannounced.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The complainant and the victim\u2019s mother,\u00a0name\u00a0withheld, began searching for her.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While searching, they met the victim by the roadside heading home.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

When questioned, she said she was returning from\u00a0Clinton\u2019s\u00a0house.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The prosecution said the victim\u00a0indicated\u00a0that she had sneaked to Clinton\u2019s house\u00a0at\u00a0night, where he had sexual intercourse with her.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Investigations revealed that about three months earlier, Clinton lured the victim into his house and had sexual intercourse with her, after which he continued the act.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On July 12, 2024, the complainant reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at\u00a0Adenta.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

A Police Medical report form was issued for the victim to be examined and treated at a government facility.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Clinton was later arrested and cautioned.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
