Ghana\u2019s Minister of Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has revealed that the nation will celebrate the launch of its national airline in 12 months.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the sidelines of the high-profile ceremony marking Air Tanzania\u2019s inaugural flight to Accra, he emphasised that the government is aggressively pursuing a vision that puts a Ghanaian carrier back on the global map.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy President Mahama\u2019s vision, we have put up a task force. The task force is working, and I\u2019m telling you, within the next period of 12 months, we will be celebrating Ghana airline flying to the rest of the world\u201d, he assured.<\/p>\n

The Member of Parliament for Saboba used the platform to highlight Ghana\u2019s readiness for its airline revival. He disclosed that the task force is already deep into the technical and financial planning stages to ensure the new airline is built on a foundation of sustainability and global competitiveness.<\/p>\n

He further noted that the action will solidify Ghana\u2019s quest to be the aviation hub of the sub-region.<\/p>\n

Industry observers say that this will do more than just restore national pride; it is expected to significantly lower travel costs for Ghanaians and provide a direct pipeline for tourists arriving under the \u201cBeyond the Return\u201d and tourism initiatives.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the establishment of the airline is seen as a critical step in providing reliable logistics for Ghanaian exporters looking to tap into new markets.<\/p>\n

Establishment of the Task Force<\/p>\n

In May 2025, a 10-member task force was established by President John Dramani Mahama to oversee the creation of a new national airline for Ghana.<\/p>\n

The group among other key responsibilities, was to navigate the complex process of establishing a sustainable carrier that will compete with other African airlines.<\/p>\n

The task force is chaired by Charles Asare, former Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
