Founder and Executive Chairman of the Africa Prosperity Network, Gabby Asare Otchere\u2011Darko, has announced plans to launch a continent\u2011wide campaign for visa\u2011free travel at the Africa Prosperity Dialogues (APD) 2026, set to take place from 4\u20136 February 2026 in Accra, Ghana.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Joy FM\u2019s AM Show<\/em>, Gabby Otchere\u2011Darko said the \u201cMake Africa Borderless Now\u201d movement will aim to collect 10 million signatures from Africans and people of African descent across the continent and the diaspora to push for freer movement and economic integration.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to do something differently. What we want is to launch what we call the Make Africa Borderless Now Movement<\/em> at APD 2026,\u201d he told hosts, outlining the scope of the initiative. \u201cWe are seeking to secure 10 million signatures\u2026 to tell the scale and the urgency of the issues before us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Otchere\u2011Darko explained that the campaign\u2019s goals go beyond visa\u2011free travel to include improved interoperability across the continent. He cited proposals for a common biometric ID and full implementation of the Pan\u2011African Payments Settlement (PAPs) system, measures he said would facilitate movement while addressing security concerns.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you say free borders, some think it will compromise security,\u201d he said. \u201cBut now the people who are benefiting without the free borders are more criminals. The serious business people are hampered by the bureaucracy of getting their visa.\u201d<\/p>\n

APD 2026 is themed \u201cEmpowering Women and Youth in the Single Market: Innovate, Collaborate, Trade\u201d and will bring together policymakers, business leaders and civil society to discuss inclusive economic growth.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
