For President Trump, it\u2019s decision time.<\/p>\n

Ten days ago, he said the US was prepared to go to the \u201crescue\u201d of Iranian protesters if their government used violence against them.<\/p>\n

The US was, the president said, \u201clocked and loaded and ready to go\u201d.<\/p>\n

That was before the violent crackdown in Iran had really begun. Now,\u00a0with its full extent being shockingly revealed, the world waits to see how Trump will respond.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody knows what President Trump is going to do except for President Trump,\u201d White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said. \u201cThe world can keep waiting and guessing.\u201d<\/p>\n

But for how long?<\/p>\n

Senior officials are due to brief the president on Tuesday on possible courses of action. Speaking to reporters on Air Force One on Sunday, Trump said he was looking at \u201csome very strong options\u201d.<\/p>\n

Flushed with success in Venezuela \u2013 the president described the capture of Nicolas Maduro as one of the most successful operations in US history \u2013 the temptation to deploy the military must be considerable.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
