The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, has noted that drug abuse is destroying the Ghanaian youth.<\/p>\n

He has, therefore, issued a stark warning over the escalating drug abuse among the country\u2019s youth, calling it a grave danger to their future and a national emergency requiring immediate action.<\/p>\n

He was speaking during a courtesy visit by the Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Brigadier General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, and his management team.<\/p>\n

The Chief Imam lamented that the rampant use of illicit substances is eroding the potential of countless young people. <\/p>\n

The visit, held ahead of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, also served to formally invite the revered cleric to the national commemoration slated for June 26, 2026, at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).<\/p>\n

Sheikh Sharubutu stressed that Ghana\u2019s future leaders are being derailed by drugs and called for intensified, collective action. <\/p>\n

He praised NACOC\u2019s ongoing public education and enforcement efforts, urging the commission to sustain the fight.<\/p>\n

In response, Brigadier General Mantey thanked the Chief Imam for his steadfast support in promoting social responsibility. <\/p>\n

He warned that drug abuse continues to devastate young lives, fueling economic and social crises. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis menace demands a united front,\u201d he said, appealing to religious leaders, parents, schools, traditional authorities, and civil society to rally behind NACOC\u2019s efforts.<\/p>\n

The NACOC delegation also included the Deputy Director-General for Enforcement, Control and Elimination, Lawyer Alexander Twum-Barimah, and other senior officials. <\/p>\n

The global observance aims to mobilize action against the world drug problem, with this year\u2019s national event centered on awareness and collective responsibility.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
