More anti-government protests\u00a0erupt in Iran\u00a0for a 13th day in a row, as the country\u2019s supreme leader\u00a0lashes out\u00a0at people demonstrating on the streets.<\/p>\n

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has ultimate power in Iran, dismisses protesters as \u201ca bunch of vandals\u201d\u00a0trying to \u201cplease\u201d US President Donald Trump, who threatened to \u201chit\u201d Iran \u201cvery hard\u201d if government forces kill protesters.<\/p>\n

The protests, which\u00a0began in Tehran on 28 December, were sparked by the collapse of the Iranian currency.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople are becoming bolder now,\u201d\u00a0one 29-year-old tells the BBC: \u201cI went to buy some groceries and people were speaking out loud against the regime in the daylight!\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a\u00a0nationwide internet blackout\u00a0is seemingly still in place, with some Iranians abroad saying they\u2019ve been unable to contact their families.<\/p>\n

The BBC and most other international news organisations are barred from reporting inside Iran, so social media is relied upon to verify what is happening on the ground.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
