Activist group Arise Ghana has officially transitioned from mobilisation to active oversight, issuing a stern warning to public officials that it will pursue the removal and prosecution of any appointee found to be underperforming or engaging in \u201cconstitutional meddling\u201d.<\/p>\n

The group made the declaration during a press conference held at the Ghana International Press Centre on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. <\/p>\n

The event, titled \u201cIndependent Assessment of the John Dramani Mahama Government\u2019s First Year in Office\u201d,<\/em> served as both a reflection on recent economic gains and a warning against institutional complacency.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the briefing, Co-Convener Marion Gifty Nyaaba outlined a rigorous new monitoring framework designed to hold the administration accountable to the Ghanaian taxpayer. <\/p>\n

She emphasised that the group\u2019s evaluation of the government would no longer be limited to annual reviews but would become a continuous, metrics-driven process.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are assessing sector by sector every week, every month, and every quarter to see how the government is performing,\u201d Ms. Nyaaba stated. \u201cAnd where we see areas of underperformance, we will make our recommendations and, if necessary, seek the removal of appointees who are not meeting expectations.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She noted that while the administration has avoided major scandals in its first twelve months, the group\u2019s role is to ensure that \u201cvalue for money\u201d remains the primary metric for public service delivery.<\/p>\n

Drawing on President Mahama\u2019s own public commitments to ethical leadership, Ms. Nyaaba warned that appointees who believe they are shielded by political affiliation are mistaken. <\/p>\n

She signalled that Arise Ghana would act as an internal whistleblower to protect the state from graft.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe president himself has made it clear that he will not allow his own house to commit the wrongs that he condemns outside the administration,\u201d she said. \u201cIf you are an appointee and think you can start meddling and engaging in activities that are not right for the constitution or for the Ghanaian people, you will be the first person to be fished out.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Arise Ghana, which became a household name during the economic protests of 2022 and 2024, is now shifting its focus toward the \u201clegal face-off\u201d with corruption. Ms. Nyaaba indicated that the group would not hesitate to initiate legal proceedings against failing officers.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cIf necessary, Arise Ghana will be the first to fish out those who are failing to meet their responsibilities, and we will go all out to make sure they face the law,\u201d she concluded.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The group\u2019s assessment comes at a time when the government is celebrating a remarkable turnaround for the Cedi\u2014which has stabilised between GH\u00a210.4 and GH\u00a210.6 to the dollar\u2014and a surge in foreign reserves to over $11 billion.<\/p>\n

However, Arise Ghana maintains that statistical stability must translate into tangible social benefits and uncompromised integrity in the public service.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
