The law provides for fines, custodial sentences, or both, depending on the circumstances of the offence.<\/p>\n<p>The Ghana Police Service has repeatedly warned that firearm licences do not permit public discharge and that offenders risk arrest, prosecution, fines, or imprisonment.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-media-max-width=\"560\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">It\u2019s not allowed in Ghana now, but I\u2019m pleading with Mahama \u2014 Accra New Town Street King, Cyborg, fires a government salute in honor of Asake while in Ghana. pic.twitter.com\/PnuynUCXfV<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 THE STATE NEWS (@THESTATENEWSS) December 30, 2025<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On Tuesday, President John Mahama indicated that due process will be followed after Asake, during a subsequent encounter with the President, attempted to plead on his behalf, urging him to temper justice with mercy, explaining that the firearm was discharged in the excitement of the moment.<\/p>\n<p>Asake and members of his entourage greeted President Mahama during the event.<\/p>\n<p>Recalling the incident during the exchange, President Mahama asked, \u201che\u2019s the one the guy fired the gun for?\u201d to which those present responded in the affirmative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd he ended up in trouble,\u201d the President added, drawing laughter from the room.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Read also: \u2018Cyborg\u2019 seen in viral video firing gun during musician Asake meet-up arrested<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Nigerian star then apologised on Cyborg\u2019s behalf. President Mahama acknowledged the plea but maintained that due process must prevail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t worry about it.
