Ghanaian agriculture expert Evans Kyere-Mensah has been nominated to serve on the World Agriculture Forum (WAF) Council, a global body positioning itself as a platform to shape the future of agriculture worldwide.<\/p>\n

The nomination, dated December 3, 2025, was communicated in a letter signed by Michelle Dennis, Director of Communications of the World Agriculture Forum, following a recommendation by Dr MJ Khan, Special Advisor to the WAF Board.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter internal deliberations, your name has been approved for the Council,\u201d the letter stated, highlighting confidence in Mr Mensah\u2019s expertise and leadership within the global food and agriculture space.<\/p>\n

The World Agriculture Forum is being established as an international platform, similar in outlook to the World Economic Forum, with a focus on advancing agricultural development, food and nutrition security, sustainable farming practices, technology, trade and policy coordination.<\/p>\n

According to the Forum, the initiative comes at a critical time, as the global agricultural sector faces mounting challenges from climate change, food insecurity and shifting global trade dynamics.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe agricultural sector is paramount to global food security, economic stability and environmental sustainability,\u201d the letter noted, stressing the need for a dedicated body to facilitate dialogue and cooperation among policymakers, innovators, business leaders and global institutions.<\/p>\n

As a Council member, Mr Kyere-Mensah is expected to contribute to shaping global policy discussions and strategic direction for agriculture.<\/p>\n

The Forum also disclosed that one-third of its board members will be drawn from the Council, ensuring what it describes as a diverse and representative leadership structure.<\/p>\n

The WAF plans to host an annual global summit, bringing together stakeholders to set the agenda for global agriculture, encourage agro-trade and technology exchange, and promote investment in sustainable and resilient food systems.<\/p>\n

Mr Kyere-Mensah\u2019s nomination is being viewed as a significant recognition of Ghana\u2019s growing voice in international agricultural policy discussions, particularly as the country continues to prioritise food security, agribusiness development and climate-smart agriculture.<\/p>\n

The World Agriculture Forum, headquartered in the Netherlands, says it looks forward to welcoming Mr Mensah to the Council, noting that his participation would \u201cprovide an unparalleled opportunity to influence agricultural initiatives on a global scale.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
