Botswana\u2019s Olympic hero Letsile Tebogo has officially received the newly built home promised to him as part of the country\u2019s incentive package for winning gold at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.<\/p>\n

The Botswana Athletics Association confirmed that \u201cLetsile Tebogo was ushered into his newly constructed three-bedroom house for inspection\u201d on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

The property, valued at $170,000, was fully funded by the Government of Botswana to honour his historic 200m triumph.<\/p>\n

According to the Federation, \u201cThe house was developed by Time Projects from the ground up, following Tebogo\u2019s selection of the preferred location and architectural plan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Construction began after the groundbreaking ceremony in October 2024, which the Federation described as \u201cthe start of an enduring legacy project for the young champion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tebogo\u2019s Olympic success extended beyond the individual sprint. As a member of Botswana\u2019s men\u2019s 4x400m relay team that won silver in Paris, he also benefited from the team incentive package.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach member of the silver-winning relay team, including Tebogo, received a two-bedroom apartment, which they have already moved into,\u201d the Association noted.<\/p>\n

The initiative was led by the Ministry of Sports and Arts, working alongside the Botswana National Sports Commission (BNSC) and the Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC). <\/p>\n

The gesture, they said, \u201cunderscores the government\u2019s continued commitment to celebrating and rewarding sporting excellence\u201d and stands as \u201can inspiration to the next generation of sportsmen and women who aspire to represent the nation at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n

The handover event was officiated by the Minister of Sports and Arts, Hon. Jacob Kelebeng, and attended by key sporting leaders, including BNSC Chairperson Mr. Marumo Morule, BNOC President Mr. Tshepo Sitale, Acting BAA President Mr. Oabona Theetso, and members of Tebogo\u2019s family.<\/p>\n

Their presence, the Athletics governing body said, \u201chighlighted the collective pride and unity shared across Botswana\u2019s sporting fraternity as the nation continues to honour one of its brightest stars.\u201d<\/p>\n
