Ghana Black Queens suffered a 2-0 loss to England in an international friendly at St Mary\u2019s Stadium on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

England took the lead inside six minutes when Lucia Kendall reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box and scored from close range.<\/p>\n

The Lionesses controlled most of the possession and created several chances, hitting the woodwork multiple times, but Ghana stayed compact and limited the damage in the first half.<\/p>\n

Goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan made important saves, including stopping Missy Bo Kearns from close range, as England pushed for a second goal.<\/p>\n

Ghana improved as the match wore on, growing bolder in midfield exchanges and threatening on the counter.<\/p>\n

A few half-chances created on the counter-attack but they could not find a breakthrough in the final third.<\/p>\n

England sealed the win in stoppage time when substitute Alessia Russo won a penalty for handball and converted it to make it 2\u20130.<\/p>\n

Head coach Kim Bj\u00f6rkegren praised the response from his players, emphasising perspective and progress.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a coach, you always want to win,\u201d he said. \u201cBut we are 67th in the world and faced a team that may be the best in the world right now. We can be proud of our performance, and we feel we are moving in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Black Queens will now turn their attention to preparations for the 2026 Women\u2019s Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from 17 March to 3 April 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
