New data from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has revealed a shocking nationwide turnout gap, with 7 out of every 10 newly posted medical officers failing to report to their assigned regions.<\/p>\n

The report, dated 28 November 2025, shows that out of 463 medical officers allocated across the 16 regions, only 158 have reported, representing just 34% of expected postings.<\/p>\n

An overwhelming 305 doctors, or 66%, have still not shown up.<\/p>\n

The numbers paint a picture of a health workforce deployment system experiencing a dramatic slowdown, leaving several regions waiting for doctors who simply have not arrived.<\/p>\n

Regions Left Waiting: Zero and Single-Digit Reporting in Some Areas<\/p>\n

Some regions recorded stunningly low turnout, with several receiving no arrivals at all and others reporting only single-digit numbers.<\/p>\n

These regions are, quite literally, still waiting.<\/p>\n

On the opposite end, Ghana\u2019s largest metropolitan regions, Greater Accra and Ashanti, recorded the highest reporting rates, with turnout levels well above 60%, indicating a clear urban pull.<\/p>\n

The contrast is clear.<\/p>\n

While some regions are receiving doctors in strong numbers, others remain almost completely unattended.<\/p>\n

Across the country, the data is striking.<\/p>\n

According to the Ghana Health Service, \u201cRegions are encouraged to intensify engagements with the medical officers to improve the current numbers.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
