Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Otchere Baafi, has highlighted the dedication and committed service of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over the years.<\/p>\n

Addressing delegates in his constituency in Koforidua yesterday during Dr Bawumia\u2019s campaign tour, the MP said that at times when the party faced serious challenges and required courageous individuals to defend it, Dr Bawumia stepped forward while others\u2014whom he described as \u201ccowards who are now making noise\u201d\u2014hid under their tables.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen it was very tough in Ghana, and some top NPP members were hiding under tables, he was the one who stood up for the party,\u201d Otchere Baafi said, referencing the 2012 election petition at the Supreme Court, where Dr Bawumia served as the NPP\u2019s chief witness for eight months.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe defended the party during the 2012 election petition after the NPP was cheated at the polls. Some of those cowards who went into hiding are now out claiming they are the real party members and that Dr Bawumia is not a true member.\u201d<\/p>\n

Baafi, while endorsing Dr Bawumia\u2019s presidential bid, commended him for his crucial role in the election petition and his contribution to subsequent electoral reforms, which he said paved the way for the NPP\u2019s return to power.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe person who stood up and defended the party at the Supreme Court and ensured that many electoral reforms were implemented\u2014reforms that enabled the NPP to win power\u2014is the one I am endorsing. I urge all of you to support him on January 31.\u201d<\/p>\n

He described the 2028 elections as crucial, noting that the NPP needs an experienced and well-marketed candidate such as Dr Bawumia to secure victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m saying that the January 31 election is not a joke. It is a crucial election, and we need an experienced person\u2014someone who has been well-marketed and is well-known by Ghanaians. That person is Dr Mahamudu Bawumia,\u201d the MP said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
