A 38-year-old man has been granted a GH\u00a275,000.00 bail with two sureties by an Accra Circuit Court over\u00a0the\u00a0theft of a Man Diesel truck head,\u00a0valued\u00a0at\u00a0GH\u00a2150,000.00,\u00a0belonging to DBS Roofing Sheet Company Limited.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The\u00a0court ordered that one of the sureties of\u00a0Mershack\u00a0Arthur, the accused person, should be justified.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He has since denied the\u00a0offence\u00a0and is expected\u00a0to reappear before the court, presided over by Madam Basilia Adjei-Tawiah,\u00a0on December 3, 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Police Chief Inspector Daniel Ofori-Appiah,\u00a0giving the facts\u00a0of the case,\u00a0said\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Emmanuel Sarkodie, the\u00a0complainant,\u00a0was\u00a0the Transport Officer of DBS Roofing Sheet Company Limited,\u00a0located\u00a0on the Spintex Road and\u00a0residing\u00a0at\u00a0Kasoa.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The accused person\u00a0was an operator of the same company and a resident of Martey Ma, a suburb of Teshie.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chief Inspector Ofori-Appiah said on September 8, the\u00a0complainant reported\u00a0to\u00a0work at the company\u2019s warehouse near the Tema Motorway and detected that the Man Diesel\u00a0Truck\u00a0Head,\u00a0with registration number GS 2587-20,\u00a0had been stolen.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

A report was lodged at the Manet Police Station\u00a0and,\u00a0acting on a tip-off from witness Anthony Sackey, the accused person was arrested and detained to\u00a0assist\u00a0in investigations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Police\u00a0investigation, prosecution noted,\u00a0revealed that the accused person had planned to steal the said truck since 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said\u00a0on Saturday, September 6, at about 0550 hours, the accused went to the warehouse with a towing vehicle and towed the\u00a0truck to Martey Tsuru in search of a buyer.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Three days later, he hired another towing vehicle to move the truck to a different location,\u00a0but luck eluded him, and he was apprehended at Achimota.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0Chief Inspector Ofori-Appiah\u00a0said\u00a0he was transferred from\u00a0Tesano\u00a0Police Station to Manet Police Station.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

He said an\u00a0investigation caution statement was obtained from the accused and he admitted the offence in his cautioned statement.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

After thorough investigations, it was\u00a0established\u00a0that the accused indeed committed the crime, the\u00a0court heard.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0Arthur was charged and\u00a0arraigned.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
