Highlife singer Kwaisey Pee has said that making music today is far cheaper and easier than it was in the past. <\/p>\n

He believes the shift in production and promotion has turned music into an accessible venture for almost anyone.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz <\/em>with Doreen Avio, he compared his early days in the industry with current trends, noting that social media has taken over most of the promotional work. He argued that this has reduced the financial burden that musicians once carried.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur fathers were doing it because my dad was telling me a story when they go to studio to record back in the days when they\u2019re doing the same thing, everybody starts, there\u2019s no rewind, cut here, join here, like they\u2019re doing nowadays. I think we did real music, the hardcore way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that promotion used to require physical trips across the country. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just like promotion nowadays, everything is about social media. We used to go to the Sunyanis and the Brong Ahafos and Takoradi, you have to drive, travel, more money. I\u2019m music now is the cheapest thing to do and you don\u2019t spend a lot of money,\u201d he said on Hitz FM.<\/p>\n

Kwaisey Pee also dismissed the perception that today\u2019s artistes spend heavily on online promotion. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think so because most of them they have followers like huge followers they don\u2019t pay money to stations, bloggers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that older artistes still face financial challenges in promoting their work. <\/p>\n

\u201cTrust me. It\u2019s that\u2019s the honest truth but some of us we\u2019re still paying. We\u2019re still pushing because we don\u2019t have and because our followers are not the social media type so when we record we have to still come to you guys sit on radio and then talk about and promote it,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, he is getting ready to celebrate his 25th anniversary in the music industry.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
