Renowned finance and economic expert Senyo Hosi has thrown his support behind the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, for his firm advocacy on sustainable mining and environmental protection.<\/p>\n

Mr Hosi took to his Facebook page to applaud Mr Gyamfi\u2019s remarks at the ongoing Precious Metals Conference in Dubai, where the Gold Board CEO stressed that no amount of gold is worth jeopardising the lives and sustainable future of Ghanaians.<\/p>\n

Describing the comment as both timely and crucial, Mr Hosi noted that it aligns with the current national debate on how to balance mineral exploitation with environmental responsibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you Sammy Gyamfi. Let\u2019s continue to work together to achieve the right balance between the mining we need and the sustainability we owe posterity. Keep making Ghana proud on the international scene,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Mr Gyamfi\u2019s position comes as the Gold Board rolls out sweeping reforms aimed at sanitising Ghana\u2019s gold trading ecosystem, curbing smuggling, and promoting transparency.<\/p>\n

Key measures include granting the Board exclusive authority to assay, grade, value, purchase, and export artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) gold, alongside a new transparent pricing model for miners and licensed buyers.<\/p>\n

Additional reforms feature a national aggregation system for gold collection, updates to licensing requirements to ensure compliance and responsible sourcing, and an upcoming blockchain-powered Track and Trace platform to guarantee full transparency for every gram of gold purchased.<\/p>\n

These interventions are expected to formalise the ASM sector, increase foreign exchange reserves, and ensure ethical, traceable gold trading.<\/p>\n

The agency\u2019s efforts are already showing impact, with ASM gold exports surpassing those from large-scale mining firms.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
