The Italian Embassy in Accra last week marked the 10th edition of its signature culinary event, \u201cFlavours of Italy,\u201d as part of the global Week of Italian Cuisine in the World. <\/p>\n

This year\u2019s edition carried the theme, \u201cItalian Cuisine: Health, Culture and Innovation,\u201d emphasising the Mediterranean diet\u2019s health benefits and Italy\u2019s rich tradition of culinary creativity. The celebration, hosted by Ambassador Laura Ranalli, spotlighted Italy\u2019s gastronomic heritage through a vibrant showcase of food, wine and culture.<\/p>\n

A Decade of Culinary Diplomacy<\/strong><\/p>\n

In her welcome remarks, Ambassador Ranalli reflected on the 10-year journey of this initiative, underlining how it advances not just gastronomy but also cultural identity and innovation. <\/p>\n

She noted that Italian food and wine are more than just flavors \u2014 they reflect Italy\u2019s diverse landscapes, artistic heritage and centuries-old traditions. For her, gathering around the table is a universal way to bring people and cultures together.<\/p>\n

Deepening Ghana\u2013Italy Partnerships<\/strong><\/p>\n

The event drew a distinguished gathering of diplomats, government ministers and officials, business leaders, influencers and the media, including food bloggers. <\/p>\n

Among them were Ghana\u2019s Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu; the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene; and the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey.<\/p>\n

Luigi Puca, the Italian Trade Commissioner for Ghana, Burkina Faso and Niger, used the opportunity to talk up the increasing demand for Italian food products in the region. <\/p>\n

He implored Italy and Ghana to deepen their diplomatic relations using trade and commerce.<\/p>\n

On his part, the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, expressed the Ghana government\u2019s gratitude for Italy\u2019s support for technical and vocational education in Ghana. <\/p>\n

He commended Italy for the \u20ac5 million grant for TVET reform and encouraged deeper Italian investment in Ghana\u2019s education, manufacturing and job-creation sectors.<\/p>\n

A True Taste of Italy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Guests were treated to a rich spread of Italian culinary staples such as pizza, pasta, pastries, gelato and more. Food stands displayed premium Italian food products, while the ambiance was elevated with Italian music and cultural performances, turning the evening into a lively celebration of cross-cultural exchange.<\/p>\n

A total of 20 wine and food companies partnered with the Embassy and the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) to make this year\u2019s celebration truly memorable. Participating wine companies included Don Emilio Ltd., Imexco Ghana Limited, Denzel Logistics\/Lamborghini Wines, Barona\/Steven Fittock, TAD Group Limited, Panific and Superb Wine & Liquor.<\/p>\n

Culinary offerings for the evening were provided by Crust Me Pizza, CleanEats, Il Sapore Perfetto, \u00c0 La Lune Restaurant & Caf\u00e9, Ocean Platform International, Hibiscus Restaurant and Pomona. Guests were also treated to premium ice cream selections from Cozy Cravings, Geppetto Gelato, Pinocchio Ghana and Tipsy Gelato.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Ranalli closed the event with a call to deepen cultural collaboration, emphasizing that food is a bridge \u2014 a way for Ghana and Italy to continue strengthening ties.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
