The Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, has urged the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) to suspend its strike, pledging that the government will address their unresolved issues within two weeks.<\/p>\n

He said this while speaking to journalists following a meeting with CETAG leadership on Tuesday, November 25. \u201cI have asked them to consider calling off the strike and giving us two weeks to see what the state can do. It goes back to 2022, but we will fix it within the next two weeks. The ball is in their court.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Minister emphasised the government\u2019s commitment to resolving the long-standing issues and urged the association to consult its members regarding the appeal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are negotiating. There were issues for which the National Labour Commission made a declaration and award in CETAG\u2019s favour, which have not been respected by the government since 2022. We will see how we can remedy the situation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

CETAG is currently observing an industrial action following its declaration of a nationwide strike on Monday, November 24, citing the government\u2019s failure to fully implement the National Labour Commission\u2019s (NLC) arbitral award issued on May 2, 2023.<\/p>\n

The strike affects all 46 Colleges of Education across the country.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
