Nollywood star Genevieve Nnaji has reacted to a controversial tweet advising Igbo men against marrying women from their own ethnic group.<\/p>\n

The X user had urged Igbo men to go to East Africa and pick a wife instead of being accused of raping their own daughters by their Igbo wives.<\/p>\n

\u201cDear Igbo men, instead of marrying an Igbo woman who\u2019ll falsely accuse you of raping your daughter, better look outside for a wife\u2026 Go to East Africa, especially Rwanda and pick a damsel,\u201d the X user wrote.<\/p>\n

Responding, Genevieve Nnaji, who is an Igbo woman from Mbaise, Imo State, said, \u201cIn other words, instead of checking yourself and taking accountability, go for the unsuspecting and carry on with your evil. Got it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some argued the tweet targeted false accusers, not all women, but Nnaji stood her ground, stressing the dangers of stereotyping:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe same way a woman can\u2019t tell an abusive man apart from a good one is the same way you shouldn\u2019t say avoid all Igbo women. \u2018Not all women,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
