The UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC) has reaffirmed its pivotal role in promoting trade and investment between the United Kingdom and Ghana by celebrating its member businesses at the 3rd\u00a0End of Year Gala Dinner and Awards under the theme, \u201cUK-Ghana Trade \u2013 Bridging Nations, Building Prosperity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The elegant event, hosted at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra, celebrated UKGCC member companies that have demonstrated excellence, innovation, and impact across various sectors.\u00a0 Vivo Energy Ghana PLC, a UKGCC Platinum Member, emerged a triple winner\u2014taking home the\u00a0Economic Impact Award,\u00a0Most Outstanding UK Business in Ghana Award, and\u00a0Decades of UK\u2013Ghana Business Partnership Award.\u00a0 Cyndex Ltd.\u00a0received the\u00a0Social Impact Award, while\u00a0GCB Bank PLC and IT Consortium LTD, both UKGCC Platinum members, won the\u00a0Best Tax Payer Award and Dynamic Member Award, respectively.<\/p>\n

Delivering remarks on behalf of the UKGCC Executive Council Chairman and Founder of Blue Skies Ghana Ltd.,\u00a0Sir Anthony Pile, MBE, Vice Chairman and CEO of Airport West Hospitality LTD, John Addo Kufuor, commended the Chamber for \u201cits dogged determination to succeed, even when the odds have at times seemed insurmountable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Kufuor described the occasion as \u201cthe perfect prelude to the UKGCC\u2019s upcoming tenth anniversary in 2026,\u201d highlighting a decade of bridging the UK, Ghana, and the global market through the British Chambers network.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

He reaffirmed the UKGCC\u2019s commitment to advocacy, partnership, and business growth, assuring member companies that\u00a0\u201cthe UKGCC will not relent in its mission to champion your interests and create platforms that connect you to genuine growth opportunities\u2014here in Ghana, across the UK, and around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his keynote address on behalf of the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Kofi Addo, Chief Commercial Officer and Director of Industries at the Ministry, reiterated the government\u2019s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for private sector growth.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

He urged the business community to continue driving Ghana\u2019s economic transformation, assuring them of ongoing government support through progressive trade policies and investment incentives.<\/p>\n

For his part, Dr. Christian Rogg, British High Commissioner to Ghana, lauded the dynamism and resilience of Ghana\u2019s private sector, pledging the United Kingdom\u2019s strong commitment to deepening trade and investment relations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe vibrancy in the private sector in Ghana has been really impressive because of the interactions that I have had with many of you in the first few weeks,\u201d Dr. Rogg remarked. \u201cThe UK remains deeply committed to strengthening trade, investment, and economic cooperation between our two nations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abdul Nasser Suglo Alidu, Head of Strategy and Programmes for the 24-Hour Economy Initiative, underscored the government\u2019s dedication to position Ghana as a globally competitive business hub.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 24-hour economy is about making Ghana a lot more competitive,\u201d he explained. \u201cIf Ghana becomes more competitive, we can trade better with our partners.\u00a0 A stronger economy will attract more UK companies to do business in Ghana while empowering Ghanaian firms to expand into the UK market.\u201d<\/p>\n

He revealed that over 285,000 acres of land have been secured in the Oti and Volta Regions for the establishment of industrial parks\u2014an integral component of the initiative\u2019s long-term vision.\u00a0 Feasibility studies are also underway for flagship projects such as the Volta Economic Corridor Project, expected to serve as a key platform for industrial and investment activity.<\/p>\n

Mr. Alidu expressed optimism that the initiative would expand the UKGCC\u2019s membership as Ghanaian businesses become increasingly competitive and UK investors continue to view Ghana as a strategic destination for growth.<\/p>\n

The evening concluded on a high note with a ceremonial toast to strengthened UK-Ghana trade relations, raised by John Addo Kufuor Kofi Addo, Dr. Christian Rogg, Simon Madjie, CEO of GIPC, Abdul Nasser Suglo Alidu, and Anita Quarshie, representative of the CEO of Ghana Free Zones Authority.<\/p>\n
