Deputy Minister for Local Government, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, has appealed to the government and the Military High Command to confer posthumous recruitment status on the six young women who died during the tragic stampede at the El Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.<\/p>\n

In a Facebook post, the Techiman South MP described the victims as \u201cyoung ladies who perished in pursuit of a dream of service to their country,\u201d adding that they deserved to be honoured with the very goal that led to their deaths.<\/p>\n

\u201cI humbly submit that if Government or Military High Command pleases, let\u2019s confer a recruit\u2019s status on our six young ladies who have just perished as a result of their pursuit of a dream of service to their country,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

He said that although their lives were cut short, their sacrifice should not be in vain. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey have met their untimely deaths sadly, but deserve to be conferred with their ultimate dream. Wherever they are, let\u2019s appease their souls with their heart\u2019s desire. Let not their blood shed on this unfinished journey of a noble cause be in vain.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Techiman South MP\u2019s statement comes in the wake of national mourning and outrage following the El Wak tragedy.<\/p>\n

Background<\/strong><\/p>\n

Six job seekers died and several others were injured during the Ghana Armed Forces\u2019 2025\/26 recruitment exercise at the El Wak Sports Stadium in Accra. <\/p>\n

According to the Ghana Armed Forces, the incident occurred around 6:20 a.m. when an unexpected surge of applicants breached security barriers and forced their way through the gates ahead of the scheduled screening.<\/p>\n

The tragedy has since sparked widespread calls for reforms in recruitment procedures, with many describing it as a reflection of Ghana\u2019s worsening youth unemployment crisis.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
