The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has paid a working visit to the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and its subsidiary, GNPC Explorco, as part of his ongoing tour of agencies under the Ministry.<\/p>\n

The visit focused on engaging management and staff, reviewing operational progress, and discussing strategies to address Ghana\u2019s declining oil production.<\/p>\n

Addressing management teams from both entities, the Minister commended GNPC and GNPC Explorco for their commitment to Ghana\u2019s upstream petroleum development but expressed concern over the country\u2019s dwindling oil output.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur oil production has been declining over the past few years, and that is a matter of concern for all of us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cGNPC and its subsidiary Explorco must take the lead in reversing this trend through aggressive exploration, innovation, and strategic partnerships.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Minister reaffirmed government\u2019s commitment to providing the necessary policy direction and resources to build a strong, integrated national oil company capable of competing globally.<\/p>\n

He noted that sustaining production levels was critical to safeguarding Ghana\u2019s energy future and ensuring long-term economic stability.<\/p>\n

GNPC Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kwame Ntow Amoah, welcomed the Minister\u2019s visit and assured him of the Corporation\u2019s determination to deliver on its mandate.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe fully share the Minister\u2019s concern about declining production levels,\u201d he said, adding that GNPC and GNPC Explorco were working closely with partners to identify new fields, increase reserves, and strengthen operational efficiency.<\/p>\n

The visit, which also included a briefing from GNPC Explorco Managing Director Sam Arthur, forms part of the Minister\u2019s broader engagement with agencies under the Ministry to enhance collaboration and align efforts with government\u2019s energy transition agenda.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
