Kofi Kapito, CEO of the Consumer Protection Agency and brother of Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has described his sibling as a trusted legal adviser, ahead of his vetting before Parliament.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the AM Show on Tuesday, Kapito said he frequently consults his older brother on legal matters, calling him \u201ca good older brother\u201d and a reliable source of legal guidance.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnytime I have any legal issue, he is the one I\u2019ll call and say, \u2018Jack, what do you think?\u2019 and he tells me the legal aspect of it,\u201d Kapito said.<\/p>\n

Kapito also shared a light-hearted disagreement he had with Baffoe-Bonnie over a police invitation. <\/p>\n

According to him, the President\u2019s Chief Justice nominee advised that not all police invitations are compulsory, a point Kapito initially questioned. <\/p>\n

\u201cHis reason was, so even in traditional homes when the chief\u2026 he said, \u2018No, leave the traditional.\u2019 Because we made it as if when the police invite you, it\u2019s a command,\u201d he recounted.<\/p>\n

However, Kapito expressed concerns that his brother may not serve as Chief Justice for a long period due to his age, though he acknowledged the potential for judicial reforms under Baffoe-Bonnie. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf he had time, probably he could have done a lot of reforms\u2026 because he and I, we have a lot of little discussions because I want to see the best practice,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n

His vetting is seen as a key step in confirming him for a permanent role at the helm of Ghana\u2019s judiciary.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
