The Member of Parliament for the Ahafo Ano Southwest Constituency, Elvis Osei Mensah-Dapaah, has pledged to renovate the science laboratory of Mankranso Senior High School following the school\u2019s inspiring performance in the 2025 National Science and Maths Quiz.<\/p>\n

The MP committed in an interview with JoyNews when he visited the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Cape Coast to support Mankranso SHS in their semifinal contest against Mfantsipim School and Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS).<\/p>\n

According to him, the school\u2019s impressive run in the competition, despite poor infrastructure, has challenged him to accelerate development projects at the school.<\/p>\n

\u201cThough I\u2019m an opposition Member of Parliament, you know how tedious it is,\u201d Mr Mensah-Dapaah said. <\/p>\n

\u201cLooking at the infrastructure development that took place under my predecessor\u2019s regime, I have decided to continue those projects \u2014 including dormitories and classrooms.\u201d<\/p>\n

He revealed that Mankranso SHS had already visited the school and recognised the urgent need for intervention.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been to the school myself,\u201d he noted. \u201cThey have the structure for a science laboratory, but looking at the condition, things are not well. So what I\u2019m trying to do now is to start with the lab. There\u2019s nothing inside the structure.\u201d<\/p>\n

The MP said that beyond government funding, he is willing to commit his own resources to help transform the school.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat they have done has boosted me to do a lot,\u201d he said. \u201cI won\u2019t rely on government coffers alone. There are certain aspects of it that I\u2019ll use my http:\/\/supp.cus.ac.in\/ own money to support the school because they\u2019ve given us a good name.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Mensah-Dapaah commended the students and teachers of Mankranso SHS for putting their community on the map through their remarkable NSMQ performance and promised continued support to sustain their progress.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve made us proud,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd I can assure you, today we are going to beat Mfantsipim and GSTS.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mankranso SHS, a Category C school in the Ahafo Ano Southwest District, has become one of the most inspiring stories of the 2025 NSMQ season. Their journey from inadequate facilities and deteriorating infrastructure to competing at the national semifinal stage has drawn widespread attention to the challenges facing less-endowed schools across Ghana.<\/p>\n

The school\u2019s NSMQ coordinator, Ibrahim Ofori Yusif, earlier told JoyNews that the team\u2019s mission was to use the national platform to draw attention to their plight and appeal for support.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
