GYEONGJU, North Gyeongsang Province \u2014 The first summit between President Lee Jae Myung and Japan\u2019s new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi was held Thursday evening in Gyeongju, where the two leaders agreed to pursue forward-looking cooperation between the neighboring countries. According to the presidential office, the meeting lasted about 40 minutes, from 6:02 p.m. to 6:43 p.m., on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings. During the talks, President Lee congratulated Prime Minister Takaichi on becoming Japan\u2019s first female leader. \u201cYou are the first woman in Japanese history to serve as prime minister, and we attach special significance to that. I sincerely congratulate you,” President Lee said.
