Former Black Stars coach Charles Akonnor has expressed his support for the appointment of Otto Addo as the new head coach of the Ghana national football team.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Otto Addo returns to the Black Stars for a second stint, taking over from former Premier League manager Chris Hughton following Ghana\u2019s disappointing performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where they were eliminated in the group stage.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Akoma<\/strong> FM,<\/strong> Akonnor urged Ghanaians to remain optimistic and supportive of Otto Addo\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cA coach has been assigned for a couple of years, which means he will have a good plan to follow. It also means that we, as a country, should be patient while the coach has time to impact his knowledge on the team and then excel.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we do know is that the team is in a bad state right now, so we need to start over, making sure everything goes well, and hopefully before we get the chance to qualify for the World Cup and the next AFCON, we will improve our standards\u201d.<\/p>\n

Acknowledging the current challenges facing the team, Akonnor emphasized the need for a fresh start and expressed confidence in Otto Addo\u2019s ability to turn things around.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope things improve quickly because there is too much negativity on the team, and the only way to change people\u2019s minds is for us to be successful and win convincingly. We need to start strong, win matches, and play an appealing game. This should be the team\u2019s immediate plan, and I believe Otto Addo can do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Otto Addo has already overseen two matches as the head coach of the Black Stars, and with support from former coaches like Akonnor, he aims to guide the team to success in future competitions.<\/p>\n
