Black Queens forward Josephine Bonsu says she was left star-struck by the atmosphere at the Accra Sports Stadium after playing her first game in Ghana. <\/p>\n

The German-based defender was drafted into the senior women\u2019s national team prior to the delayed 2024 Women\u2019s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament in Morocco last July. <\/p>\n

Bonsu never had the opportunity to play in Ghana ahead of that tournament as preparations was far away from the country. <\/p>\n

However, she had that opportunity on Tuesday, October 28, when she featured in the Black Queens\u2019 4-0 win over the Cleopatras of Egypt in the 2026 WAFCON Qualifiers second leg at the Accra Sports Stadium. <\/p>\n

At the presser after the game, she revealed being left in awe of the atmosphere at the stadium. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt means a lot [to come here and represent Ghana]. When I was walking through the tunnel and to the pitch, and then I saw the fans, I was like, \u2018Is this here in real life?\u2019 It was loud, and it wasn\u2019t too many people, to be honest, because the stadium is huge,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe atmosphere was just outstanding, and in the middle of the game, sometimes, I was just looking around and just enjoying, so this is a dream and we have to enjoy every moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also believes the decision to represent Ghana is a dream that her father is proud of.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s also a dream when you start playing football; it\u2019s a dream to play for the national team. I am just giving back to my father and now for this period; the four to five months that I have been here it\u2019s been crazy,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know how fast it moves, but now we are going to the second WAFCON and maybe for the World Cup.\u201d<\/p>\n

After her role in the bronze medal-winning performance in Morocco, Bonsu will be hoping to help the team go a step further when they return next year following their qualification. <\/p>\n

The 2026 WAFCON also serves as a qualifier for the 2027 Women\u2019s World Cup to be staged in Brazil.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
