Real Madrid\u2019s Vinicius Jr says he \u201cdidn\u2019t want to offend anyone\u201d when he and some of his team-mates clashed with Barcelona players after winning Sunday\u2019s El Cl\u00e1sico.<\/p>\n

The Brazil forward, 25, expressed his frustration at being substituted in the 72nd minute and went straight down the tunnel.<\/p>\n

He returned to the Real bench later and, after\u00a0his side\u2019s 2-1 win,\u00a0tried to confront Barcelona\u2019s 18-year-old winger Lamine Yamal during unsavoury post-match scenes.<\/p>\n

Vinicius was one of five players booked for their part in the incident, while Real\u2019s substitute goalkeeper Andriy Lunin was shown a red card.<\/p>\n

\u201cEl Cl\u00e1sico is like that,\u201d Vinicius told Real Madrid TV. \u201cThere are a lot of things happening on and off the pitch.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe try to maintain a balance, but it\u2019s not always possible. We didn\u2019t want to offend anyone, not Barca players, nor the fans.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that when we step on to the pitch, we have to defend our side, and that\u2019s how it was today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lamine Yamal had angered the Real players by saying last week that Real \u2018steal\u2019 and \u2018complain\u2019.<\/p>\n

After scoring Sunday\u2019s winner at the Bernabeu, Real\u2019s England midfielder Jude Bellingham said\u00a0on Instagram:,\u00a0external\u00a0\u201cTalk is cheap. Hala Madrid always.\u201d<\/p>\n

What has Alonso said about Vinicius?<\/h2>\n

There have been many reports in recent months that Los Blancos would consider letting Vinicius leave if they received a suitable offer.<\/p>\n

At the end of this season, the\u00a0Fifa Best men\u2019s player of the year\u00a0will have one year remaining on his contract but talks over a new deal have stalled.<\/p>\n

When Vinicius was substituted on Sunday, cameras from broadcaster Dazn picked up the Brazilian saying: \u201cAlways me! I\u2019m leaving the team! It\u2019s better if I leave, I\u2019m leaving.\u201d<\/p>\n

Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso responded by saying: \u201cI focus on a lot of positive things in the game, and positive things from Vini. We\u2019ll talk about [his reaction], of course.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the clashes after the final whistle, Alonso said: \u201cI interpret it with normality. We don\u2019t have to make too much of it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the tension of the moment, for them and us. These scuffles have always happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carvajal to have knee surgery<\/h2>\n

Meanwhile, Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal will have surgery on his right knee and might be out for the rest of the year.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old Spaniard has made seven appearances in 10 La Liga games this season, coming on as a second-half substitute during El Clasico.<\/p>\n

His latest injury setback comes a year after he ruptured two ligaments and a tendon in the same knee, ruling him out for much of last season.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing tests carried out on our captain Dani Carvajal by Real Madrid\u2019s medical services, he has been diagnosed with a loose body in his right knee. Carvajal will undergo arthroscopic surgery,\u201d Real said on Monday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
