Asante Kotoko Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, says the club\u2019s main motivation in the Ghana Premier League is now to generate revenue through player sales.<\/p>\n

His remarks follow the transfer of midfielder Albert Amoah to Libyan side Al Ahli Benghazi, barely six matches into the new season \u2013 a move that has sparked debate among fans over its timing.<\/p>\n

While some believe it was too early to let the player leave, Duku insists the decision was necessary due to the club\u2019s financial challenges and the broader economic situation affecting Ghanaian football.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Luv FM, he explained: \u201cLet me, let me be frank with you that the only motivation left in our game today is to get opportunity to sell one or two players outside, otherwise a time will come that clubs will have to beg to raise funds.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe matches are not fetching us money. Sponsors are not coming because of economic reasons and so who do we blame? If opportunity comes, and Kotoko has to be run why not?\u201d<\/p>\n

Kotoko\u2019s decision to sell their top forward came shortly after a 5\u20131 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club in Morocco, which ended their campaign in the CAF Champions League.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on the team\u2019s continental struggles, Duku added:<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the aim is to win continent trophies, I don\u2019t think we are there yet because we are not well resourced. Look at how their (WAC) fans were organized.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
