Four people, including two women, have been shot dead by unknown gunmen in Bawku within the past 24 hours. The latest attack occurred around 6 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, along the Atuba road near Binduri.<\/p>\n

On Friday morning, a woman was reportedly gunned down after stepping out to meet a colleague. Later that evening, around 7 p.m., a man identified as Salam was shot dead by two armed men on a motorbike at a drinking spot in Garu. At about 11 p.m. the same day, another woman was also killed in Binduri.<\/p>\n

The most recent attack took place at dawn on Saturday, when gunmen ambushed and killed a man identified only as Azimbe. <\/p>\n

Reports indicate that the deceased was the son of the late Kusasi chief, who was murdered in Asawasi, Kumasi, in July this year.<\/p>\n

The killings have further heightened tension in the already volatile area. <\/p>\n

Myjoyonline.com sources indicate that military personnel have arrested 10 people in connection with the murder of the second woman in Binduri.<\/p>\n

Violence and tensions have reduced the otherwise buoyant municipality of Bawku in the Upper East Region.<\/p>\n

It has disrupted peace efforts in the municipality and led to the imposition of a curfew, restricting movement and leading to the ban on arms.<\/p>\n
