0 NewsGhana, Latest Updates and Breaking News of Ghana, Prosper Kay, https://www.newsghana.com.gh/national-apprenticeship-programme-brings-hope-and-opportunities-to-local-artisans/The Member of Parliament, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has brought smiles and fulfilments to artisans in her municipality when she honoured her promise to support these artisans in their quest to seek self-employment under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP).
The MP presented seventy artisans under the NAP with sewing machines, hair dryers, barbering clippers and other working tools.
The artisans, who were drawn from the entire Jomoro Municipality, were dressmakers and seamstresses/tailors, hairdressers and barbers.
Twenty-five hairdressers, who have finished their NAP, and those who are still learning under the NAP but can work in addition to the NAP, will receive a hairdryer each; twenty barbers will also receive hair clippers each, while twenty-five dressmakers and seamstresses will also receive a sewing machine each.
This initiative is a self-funded one by the MP to support her constituents in diverse ways and to fulfil the promise of supporting whoever is willing to do something for themselves.
Madam Affo-Toffey, who is also the Deputy Transport Minister, said, “Today [May 25, 2026] I am donating these sewing machines, hair dryers, clippers, and other working tools to artisans across the Jomoro Municipality under the National Apprenticeship Programme.”
She said, “This long-awaited intervention brings hope and opportunity to many young artisans and apprentices, reaffirming the government’s commitment to skills development, youth empowerment, and self-employment.”
“By equipping beneficiaries with the necessary tools to work and earn a living, the initiative will promote job creation, strengthen local enterprise, and contribute meaningfully to the economic growth of Jomoro and Ghana at large,” the deputy minister added.
